Introduction

In the United States, group Yoga classes are the most common ways for students to practice Yoga today. These classes offer a sense of community and foster a competitive spirit, which is common among many athletes. However, the option of Individualized Private Yoga Instruction is gaining popularity among all members of the population.

Private Instruction can beneficial for beginners to advanced practitioners: Beginners or newcomers to Yoga, can benefit from Private Instruction by learning the fundamentals of a safe Yoga practice in a non-competitive and nurturing environment while developing confidence to practice safely in a group class setting. Intermediate practitioners can learn to refine difficult postures, develop their breathing, or take their practice to the next level. Finally, advanced practitioners can delve deeper into the discipline of Yoga by learning about Yoga philosophy, pranayama, and meditation, as well as learn how to develop their own Yoga practice.

Traditionally, Yoga has been known to help people in one of three ways: Health, Healing, or Personal Transformation. Private Yoga Instruction can help people achieve all three of these things in the comfort of a one-on-one environment where the person’s individual needs, goals, strengths, limitations, current health, and lifestyle are taken into consideration and respected. An individualized Yoga practice may include: conscious breathing, yoga postures, sound, reflection, visualization, and meditation depending upon the needs and requirements of each person. Finally, Private Yoga Instruction can also be used to help people develop a personalized home Yoga practice.

My Approach

While developing a personalized home Yoga practice, my clients are encouraged to work within their capacity to remain injury free while expanding their abilities. In this way, each practice helps them develop more confidence and a greater sense of well-being that leads to long-term health and healing. In addition, each practice is continually adapted to match my client’s progress, allowing for optimal results. With guidance, this practice is carefully integrated into their daily life. The results are positive change and measurable improvement in all areas: interpersonal relationships, lifestyle, career, and increased mental, physical, and emotional health.

Yoga is a complimentary system of health, not an alternative one. It supports and works in conjunction with the client’s normal medical treatments. Each client is asked to continue their personal health routine as suggested by their doctors, as well as receive regular check-ups.
